DIY Personalized Checkers

By Holly Sosa /

Last week, I shared a fun DIY Personalized Tic Tac Toe Game and it gave me a burst of creative inspiration to create more personalized games for our family. My kiddos loved seeing their faces on game pieces, so I thought that I should do the same on another one of our family favorites, Checkers. For this Personalized Checkers Game, I created pieces for each member of the family so that we each had our own game pieces to play with.

SUPPLIES

I started by trimming down my Pinhole Press photo stickers to size to fit my checkers’ pieces.

I stick them directly on to the checkers’ pieces.

And then I give them a light coat of ModPodge for protection and durability.

Once the pieces are dry, we have our very own personalized Checkers game. It’s such a sweet way to customize the classic game in a way that my kiddos love. I am so pleased with how this turned out that I actually made an extra one for my mother’s camper as a retirement gift for her. It will be a perfect camp game for her to have with the kiddos faces on them.

This DIY Personalized Checkers game makes a great gift for birthdays, anniversaries, or even a wedding! I think it would be super fun to create a family pets version using photos of dogs, cats, hamsters, or whatever scaly or furry friend your family has.
