Over the past several months, we’ve been having an ongoing workplace discussion about natural deodorants. How could we possibly talk about something as snooze-worthy as deodorant for months at a time? Well, apparently, it’s a labor-intensive process to find an au-natural deo that actually masks your BO. Some smell like dirt, some give you serious swamp-pits, and some just plain don’t work. Lucky for you, we accidentally tested a bunch. Here are the best, and the worst:
These are the rare, golden egg deodorants that make you hardly miss your beloved degree motion sense. We recommend Native’s Coconut & Vanilla and Kopari Coconut for a fresh-all-day feel. Maybe the secret to sweating less is… coconuts?
Natural deodorants react with everyone’s unique body odor differently. This means that what works for you might not always provide relief for somebody else. Schmidt’s lavender + sage and Nubian Heritage shea butter were both deemed mediocre by our office crew, but they might still be your ticket to fresh pits.
The Internet Favorites:
Corpus Rose Natural Deodorant: This futuristic deodorant looks like it was plucked right out of the year 3000. Its sleek green tube and rose-gold etched letters make it look sleeker and more sophisticated than any deodorant, ever.
Jason Soft Rose Spray Deodorant: Spray deodorant can be a little unsettling. I mean, any direct air-flow to your armpits can be jarring if you’re not ready for it. However, this deodorant is worth the shock-factor. Its fresh scent and adorable packaging make it a steal.
Tarte Cosmetics “Clean Queen” Vegan Deodorant: Yaaaaas queen. As if Tarte cosmetics wasn’t great enough, they came out with this vibrant and fun twist-up deodorant that works great, too. It’s free of aluminum and alcohol so you can ditch skin irritation.
Malin + Goetz Eucalyptus Deodorant: Made with refreshing natural eucalyptus extract and odor-neutralizing citronellyl, this eucalyptus deodorant is aluminum free and suitable for all skin types, especially sensitive.
Schmidt’s Rose and Vanilla: We talked some smack about Schmidt’s Lavender + Sage deodorant, but the internet raves about their rose and vanilla option. It seems like it’s worth a try, especially given its springtime scent.
